Hans Christian Andersen SMART Playground Project
KnapNok Games · iOS / Android · 2016
This project was part of KOMPAN’s SMART Playground, which combined physical playground equipment with digital experiences based on the stories of Hans Christian Andersen.
At KnapNok Games, I worked on two separately released apps developed in parallel: Hans Christian Andersen Tale Run and Hans Christian Andersen Play Gate. My role covered level design, Unity implementation, interaction design, project coordination and client communication, helping connect the physical playground experience with the digital layer.
Tale Run was an endless-runner game inspired by the worlds and characters of Hans Christian Andersen’s stories.
I worked on level design and Unity implementation, helping build and refine the game’s playable content and translate the project’s design into functioning levels.
Alongside the development work, I also contributed to project management and client communication, including requirements discussions, presentations and coordination with KOMPAN.
Tale Run
Play Gate
Play Gate was an augmented-reality experience designed to work with KOMPAN playground structures. The physical playground façade acted as an image-recognition target, allowing digital scenes based on stories such as The Ugly Duckling, The Little Mermaid and The Tinderbox to appear through the device.
I implemented interactions, animation and content in Unity. I was not responsible for the underlying AR tracking technology, but worked on the interactive layer built on top of it.
The project involved multiple related digital products being developed in parallel, so part of the work was keeping the different pieces aligned while responding to client needs and the constraints of combining physical playground design with digital content.
