Cantrip is a third-person action-puzzle game created as part of DADIU, Denmark’s national game-development programme. The game follows a child with a magnetic ability who must use attraction and repulsion to manipulate objects, navigate the environment and rescue their younger sister.
I worked as the Lead Game Designer on an interdisciplinary team of around 15 people, taking responsibility for the overall game design and helping coordinate how the game’s central magnetic mechanic developed into levels, puzzles and moment-to-moment play. The project involved working closely with programmers, artists and the other disciplines in the team to turn the initial concept into a complete playable game.
Cantrip received Student Showcase of the Year at the 2013 Spilprisen awards.
